About ClearMOT

The complete MOT register, made usable.

ClearMOT exists because finding a test centre or a trustworthy garage shouldn't depend on who paid to be listed. We list every DVSA-approved MOT test station in Great Britain — all of them, taken from the official register — alongside thousands of rated garages across the UK and US, and a free MOT history checker that shows any vehicle's expiry date, past passes and failures, mileage record and advisories.

Where the data comes from

• MOT test stations: the DVSA's register of active test stations, published as open government data under the Open Government Licence. We refresh our copy as new editions are released.
• Garage listings and ratings: public sources, including Google ratings, shown with attribution. Logos are the icons garages publish on their own websites.
• MOT rules and figures: our guides are fact-checked against GOV.UK and DVSA published data, and each one shows when it was last checked.

Independence

No garage can pay to change how it ranks. Claiming a listing is free, and if we ever introduce featured placement it will always be clearly labelled. Leads are never resold to multiple garages.

Corrections

Garage details change. If you spot something wrong, every listing has a claim link the owner can use to fix it — or contact us and we'll sort it.
